Releases
Track PBADOF version changes from 1.4.0 back through 1.3 and earlier, with release dates and key changes for each version.
Release history
1.4.0
The following changes are in development and not yet released.
Smart Subject mode
- New
SmartSubjectoption inFocusSelectionModeenum (0 = Legacy, 1 = SmartSubject). Legacy mode uses the original depth-cluster solver; Smart Subject mode groups ray hits by semantic target. - New
AutoDepthOfFieldFocusTargetMonoBehaviour (Component menu: HIBIKI Entertainment / Depth Of Field / Auto Depth Of Field Focus Target). Groups colliders on a GameObject and its children into one stable subject. ExposesFocusPoint(optional preferred focus position) andPriority(0.25–4.0, default 1.0). - Subject scoring uses cluster ray weight × target Priority × focus-hint influence. The winning subject's cluster produces a weighted median focus distance via
SelectSubjectMedian. - Focus hints (
SetFocusHint/ClearFocusHint) act as a soft preference, not an unconditional override. The hinted target must still be hit by a valid ray and pass all filters. - Temporal subject tracking: a locked subject is replaced by a challenger only when
challengerScore >= lockedScore × ChallengerAdvantage(default 1.25, clamped to 1.0 minimum) forSwitchConfirmationTime(default 0.20 s).LostSubjectGraceTime(default 0.30 s) holds focus after the subject is lost. - New API:
SetFocusHint(AutoDepthOfFieldFocusTarget target, float strength = 4f),ClearFocusHint(),ResetFocusTracking(bool preserveLensPosition = true).
Ground Assist
- Replaces the flat-plane Camera Pitch Limit with a real forward ray on configured
GroundLayers(LayerMask, default layer 1). MaximumGroundSlope(float, default 60°, clamped 0–89°) rejects surfaces steeper than the limit.- Does not extrapolate ground past a ledge: uses only a real hit point.
- Holds the current focus when the camera looks upward or beyond an edge.
- Disables automatically in Smart Subject mode, which holds subject tracking instead.
CameraPitchLimitrenamed in the Inspector to "Downward Activation Angle" (default 35°, range 1–90°).GroundAssistEnabledis backed bym_cameraPitchLimit.overrideState.- Legacy migration (
MigrateLegacyGroundFallback) copies interaction layers to Ground Layers and sets slope to 60°.
Enhanced focus diagnostics
FocusDebugSnapshotnow includes temporal tracking properties:LockedSubject,ChallengerSubject,LockedSubjectScore,ChallengerScore,FocusHint,FocusHintStrength,SwitchConfirmationProgress,LostSubjectGraceProgress, andSwitchReason.- New
FocusSwitchReasonenum values: None, InitialAcquisition, ChallengerConfirmed, CueAcquisition, LockedSubjectVisible, LostSubjectGrace, HoldLastFocus, TrackingReset. GroundAssistSurface(string) reports the ground surface hit during a Ground Assist solve.ResetFocusTracking()clears locked subject state and is useful after manual camera cuts or scene transitions.
Showcase system
- New showcase scenes: Weapon Optics, Item Inspection, Cinemachine Sequence, Focus Proxy, and Adaptive Volumes.
- Separate HDRP and URP scenes with pipeline compatibility guards (
ADOFShowcasePipelineGuard). - New Cinemachine 3 showcase controller (
ADOFCinemachineShowcaseController) demonstrating Timeline-controlled camera shots with shared lens authority.
Test Lab — 20 revised scenarios
- All 20 lab scenarios renamed with user-facing descriptions: "Sharp subject, soft surroundings", "Prefer a subject", "Require a subject", "Focus through glass", "Several panes", "Look down to find ground", "Look up and hold focus", "Beyond the ledge", "Visible does not mean focusable", "Give focus a proxy", "When something passes in front", "Choose what counts", "How far focus searches".
- Updated overlay and guide catalog code.
