Installation
Install Physically based auto depth of field in your Unity 6 project, verify prerequisites, and confirm the asset is ready for use.
Install PBADOF in Unity 6
Import Physically Based Auto Depth of Field into a Unity 6 HDRP or URP project, then verify that the AutoDepthOfField component is available and ready to use.

Installation steps
Import the asset
Import the Auto Depth Of Field into your project. You can import from the HIBIKI store, Unity Asset Store or the FAB store.
Wait for compilation
Wait for Unity to finish compiling before opening any scene. The editor displays a progress bar while compilation is in progress.
Open a scene
Open an existing scene, create a new one or open the demo and showcase scenes if install from Window > HIBIKI entertainment > Depth of Field > Showcase launcher.
Add the component
Component Menu > HIBIKI entertainment > Depth of Field > Auto Depth of Field.
Alternatively, on the camera add AutoDepthOfField component.
Package dependencies
The core autofocus component requires the matching HDRP or URP package and HIBIKI Core. The remaining packages support optional samples, showcases, or integrations.

Verify your installation
Select the rendering camera
Select your main rendering camera in the Hierarchy.
Check the readiness panel
Check the inspector readiness panel. It should show green status indicators for the render pipeline and camera configuration.
Enter Play Mode
Enter Play Mode and confirm that the live focus-distance diagnostics appear in the Inspector.
- If the readiness panel shows warnings, use the repair action beneath the panel. The action resolves fixable issues such as missing camera data components or incorrect volume masks. Repairs occur only after you click the action.
- Depth of field is resolution dependant, you will not see the effects if Free Aspect is chosen in the viewports resolution.
- The system uses colliders to track focus, ensure an object has a one or a proxy.
